On October 7, one year after the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, the Holy Father addressed a letter to the population living in the region. In this message, Pope Francis calls for an end to the war and calls for awareness of the current seriousness of this conflict situation:

Addressing the crowds in Saint Peter's Square following the Sunday Angelus, Pope Francis addressed the very serious situation in Israel and Palestine, underscoring his closeness to all those suffering, Palestinians and Israelis. He said he remembers and prays for them every day, and he offers them his "embrace" at "this dark moment."

The Pope received at the Vatican the signatories of the 'Rome Call' document on the ethical use of artificial intelligence. Delegations from Muslim countries were also present, for a shared approach to the non-discriminatory use of technology.
